Lecture Post: Social Media

My entrepreneurial idea, the “SU Got Mail” application, will make it easier for Syracuse students to check the status of their mailboxes located in each living facility.  The application will be hooked up to a student’s account and notify the student when they have mail waiting for them in their box.  Each mailbox will have a small sensor installed in it and would send a message to the phone of the student.  This will make it easier for both students and Resident Advisors through the mailing process.
Today, we are surrounded by social media.  It is used everywhere we go and is used as a means of communication and helps to promote the usage of certain brands, applications, etc.  For the promotion of use for this product, each hall would create a group page on a social media site, such as Facebook or Twitter, and promote the use of the SU Got Mail application.  Students who are linked in to any kind of social media will be sure to come across a post in one way or another about the application.  Hopefully it will expose more people to the use of it and create a widely used application.
Social media makes the communication of ideas between the consumers and the business or people responsible for the usage much easier and creates a wider audience.  Today, social media is so widely used and we, as consumers, will be more apt to use something if it is publicized on either Facebook or Twitter.  Through the use of social media, people get their information and news and it gets to the people faster than any other kind of communication.  I believe that the use of social media for the promotion of the SU Got Mail application would make its existence known.
